WE B MINI PUMPKIN : Started 18th March

Pumpkins, you either love them or hate them.

I've never tried them if I'm honest, I don't think I'm going to like them so to save time I've opted for the small variety, that way I've not wasted much . . . . I have a very strange logic at times

March 27th

It may be small but its fast, and it's not alone.

March 31st

Four planted, four growing, ranging from two to three inches in height.

April 15:

It's been a while and its go here in pumpkin land. I did plant one in the garden but its had an attack of the limpness.

May 25

I don't expect these to survive the night, last night we had a bit of a storm and they ended up twisted in their pots, hanging over the side almost broken and so as a last resort I've planted them directly in the ground, bet the slugs get them.

June 3

One plant seems to have survived and looks like a possible flower or two may be emerging . . . . exciting isn't it!

June 4

Now this took me by surprise this morning. Yesterday there was just a Alien like pod forming and this morning it must have burst open, I'm just grateful John Hurt wasn't passing by.

July 4

This is the 'boy' flower. Yes, I had to look it up.

and this is the 'girl' flower.

And this should be the end result

FLOWER
SEX

Now there's no need to be embarrassed about this, it's perfectly natural. Normally the pollination is done by bees and things but to be sure I made up a threesome, two flowers and me plus a lollipop stick. Gently rubbing the thing in the centre of the male flower with my stick and then transferring the pollen to the female flower, that's it, over in seconds and no need to take anyone out to dinner afterwards.

July 5

And another flower forms but seems to be a host for some black flies.
