MOUSE MELONS : Started April |

I know mice don't have melons.
These are mini melons, small round and firm, not unlike me. |

Starting to take form, it appears that
the first pair of lobe like leaves are just there to gather light and energy
and when there's enough the true leaves start to form.

June 20
Since planting outside in the mini greenhouse in May the mouse melons have shown some good growth, the packet said fast growers so I planted them at the back, turns out their actually quite slow. |

Egg shaped inch-long green & white striped or mottled fruits resembling tiny watermelons. Fast-growing annual with lobed leaves from Mexico. Fruits have a tasty flavour and crunchy in texture, used in salads or stir fries and pickled in Mexico where they are known as Mexican Sour Gherkins. |
