Next Year?

This page is where I'm thinking out loud, making plans for what to grow next year.

After the reasonable success of this years basic crops it's time to try something  different, unusual and edible where possible. The list below is subject to change.

 The List

Tobacco: This is a yes for next year, mainly because I've already bought the seeds!

Tobacco plants are quite large with broad leaves and look quite attractive but of course there is a by-product, can you guess what it is?

Legal to grow and cure in this country and freely available.

Maize / Sweet corn Sunrise:

Sweet corn or as we commonly know it, maize, or simply 'Corn on the cob'.
I have a feeling this is going to be tall, very tall and is going to have to be planted in the ground rather than in a bucket!
Supplied by Marshalls.

Squash / Wee B Little:

OK, Pumpkin to you and I. This plant is meant to produce a mini style pumpkin, completely edible and a heavy cropper too, just got to find out what to do with the finished things, roll on next year.
Supplied by Marshalls.

Herb / Lemon Basil:

Nothing to do with John Cleese or faulty Towers, this is a cooking herb, pronounced with a capital 'H', please don't say 'erb' it annoys me.

Supplied by Marchalls.

Tomato  / Lemon Tree:

Yes, it's a tomato that looks like a lemon, but does it taste like one I wonder, trouble is I won't know until next year. Purchased from Nicky's Nursery in Broadstairs in Kent, fast postal delivery and cheap too, only £1.13 for 30 seeds (average).

Cucumber  / Crystal Lemon:

Ok, so there's a bit of a theme developing, it's purely coincidence. This cucumber is round rather than long and can be eaten as you would an apple, or so they say.
Nicky's Seeds used again, price £1.13 for 45 seeds (average)

Gourds / Dipper. Lagenaria siceraria:

Yep, another gourd, don't know why other than a fascination in watching these vine like plants grow and flower, perhaps the club like shape appeals to me!
Nicky's Seeds again, £1.45 for 16 seeds.
