Decking |
|
|
 |
I've always liked decking, it's more
natural and in tune with an English garden rather than hard slabs of
concrete. This project is expected to take up to two years, our target is
one year but being perpetually broke it's the money that holds us back, not
lack of enthusiasm or determination. |

June 18th:
This corner of our small garden has always been a dumping ground for old
bikes, hamster cages and well, anything really. The back garden is south
facing and gets a fair bit of light and warmth, certainly worth developing. |

June 27th:
Rubbish removed and things looked a little flatter. There was one problem,
just under the surface was a pile of bricks and broken tiles, the bricks
came from a garden wall that collapsed when we first moved in and the tiles
came from the kitchen when re re-modelled a few years ago. So, time to dig
up a make a deeper hole (or two) |

June 30th:
First hole dug and broken tiles buried deep we start on the second hole for
broken bricks and all the ivy that had grown wild over the trellising at the
bottom of the garden. I decided to keep all the good bricks, not sure why
but it turned out to be a good idea when the word 'decking' got mentioned,
we were just going to grass the reclaimed land. |

July 8th:
Time to sort out and clean up the bricks, were going to use them as brick
piers for the decking frame to rest on. The deck itself is not going to be
large as it's only a small garden and we want to retain grass. |
